Kanu is the greatest Igbo man alive - Igbo youths react


Each day he spends in the prison held in custody for charges of treason, Nnamdi Kanu’s fame continues to grow. Kanu has come to be seen by pro-Biafra activists as Jesus of modern times Nigeria and many other very charismatic leaders before him. News broke today, June 13 that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), received an award of honour from the Igbo Youths Movement in Enugu state. In a statement signed by the spokesperson for the IPOB, Powerful Emma, the award – an award of honour – was given to Kanu as a great liberator of the Igbo people. Emma said the award ceremony which took place at the Nike Hotel in Enugu is a proof that Kanu has remained “a man of the masses even while incarcerated”. Reactions have trailed the development, with many Igbo youths showering praises on Nnamdi Kanu, many comparing him to fathers who fought for the freedom of their people. Christopher Ogugua said: “Kanu is the greatest Igbo man alive today. More awards are still on the way. Lets continue.” Ekene Adibe christened Nnamdi Kanu the Madiba Nelson Mandela of Biafra republic. De Pintus Gabriel said Kanu is the hero of the time, stressing that “if every youth in Nigeria is brave and courageous like you are, things will not get worse like this. Nigerian youth these days are the most distracted of youths in world right now including me. What we know how to do is to fight on facebook. He was of the opinion that holding Nnamdi Kanu will not deter pro-Biafrans from their struggle. Ejembi Austin said: “Nigeria government should do the needful by releasing this man please.enough of this detention. Na wetin na? “This is what the federal government want they have made this guy popular, a martyr because they want to kill a mosquito with a sledge hammer Kanu now has multitude of followers,” Ekhalekha David opined. John Baba Nuhu was of the opinion that “If there is anything Nnamdi needs now it is freedom. What is he going to do with award when he is under arrest. Take your award back and fight for his freedom.” Meanwhile, the new militant group Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF), which claimed affiliation with Niger Delta Avengers, has announced ceasefire, TheCable reports. The militants had earlier vowed to launch six missiles in the region and to also lock down Nigeria’s airspace, but it said it resolved to do otherwise after the federal government proposed talks. Meanwhile, the group said government would have to follow its demand if it wants the peace to be continued. JNDLF listed demands that comprised the immediate release of former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki, setback of the order to freeze the bank accounts of the former militant leader Tompolo, formation of Matitime University in Okerenkoko, Delta state and others.
